  1. The US military is definitely stronger than the Chinese military, especially when it comes to manned aircraft. If the two militaries squared off in a neutral location equally suppliable by both countries then the USA would have a very real advantage, especially in the short term. This is not likely to occur though. Also, assumptions that US equipment is of a substantially higher quality is probably not consistently accurate. Both countries have strengths relative to each other in different areas because their militaries have different priorities. The US priority is to police the world; the Chinese priority is control of their immediate vicinity. Because of this, any likely conflict would occur in China-friendly terrain, which is a substantial equalizer. And then there's the American advantage that comes with a mature alliance structure. Both countries are extremely powerful, and neither can take a military victory for granted.
