  2. I think the U.S. and China underestimate each other at their peril. I think the move towards unmanned craft is crucial to victory, but I think China is already aware of this, and they are the gold standard in drone technology and production. The U.S. is in good shape with superior air assets (quantitatively) and the fact that they have more seaborne surface missile saturation capacity works to the U.S. advantage, but if the location of hostilities is in the vicinity of Taiwan, one has to include the Chinese land-based missiles as well, and the Chinese have the largest terrestrial missile force in the world. The fact that so many of the Chinese vessels are destroyers, frigates, and corvettes suggests an emphasis on anti-submarine warfare. If the U.S. isn't being needed elsewhere in the world and could bring their whole navy to the region, that would be an awful lot for the Chinese to deal with.
