  7.  @FrostySire  They don't have to. Life is full of choices. Those who have a future in Hong Kong will almost certainly stay. Those who lack the resources to leave will stay. What's left are the well-to-do that have burned their bridges. Some of them may become useful members of society, but most will become disillusioned whiners.

  10. The protesters pretty much undid the deal when they started calling for independence and the western institutions that supported and funded these protests were complicit. Everybody is upset with those on the other side. That's to be expected.

  11. That certainly would have solved the Hong Kong problem. The PRC would have rolled in with tanks and Hong Kong would now be a neighborhood of Shenzhen.
