I think you're trying to make trouble where there ain't none. Things change over time and China and Russia may one day see each other as adversaries, but I don't think that's going to be any time soon. I know the last century was dominated by political ideologies and their determination to destroy all competition, I think China and Russia have kind of matured beyond that. They no longer care what each other's political system is, or what anybody else's political system is. If the United States steps back from East Asia, I don't think democracy is going to play much of a role in who the second tier powers align with. They may align with Russia to counter balance China's dominance. Some may align with Russia because they have territorial disputes with China, but so long as China and Russia aren't working against each other, I don't think that will matter much.
