As much as I hate to sound like a selfish American, I think this is the right approach. Right now the U.S. not only is in a catastrophic health crisis, but as the population with the largest number of COVID illnesses, we are a real danger to the rest of the world. This requires all the focus of resources we can muster to end this pandemic here in the United States now. Once we get ourselves under control so that we are no longer a threat to the health of the rest of the world, then it behooves us to help put out the other fires in the neighborhood.

@theowl2044 China has four approved vaccines (Sinopharm 1, Sinovac, Sinopharm 2 & CanSino) according to Reuters (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-china-vaccine/china-approves-two-more-domestic-covid-19-vaccines-for-public-use-idUSKBN2AP1MW). China has vaccinated a very small percentage of its population, but China also does not have the virus rampaging through its country. It kind of makes sense for China to be concentrating on the rest of the world considering that in their eyes, that's where the real threat lies.

This is definitely a slanted framing. Not that China doesn't get regularly mischaracterized by Western press giants like the BBC, NYT, DW, WaPo, and others. It would be nice if we could all report honestly without dragging those we disagree with through the mud, but alas, that's not the way we do things these days.

China's effective policies in the beginning to halt the pandemic within China now gives them the leeway necessary to share their vaccines with the rest of the world. The United States, on the other hand, failed miserably under Trump, and the new administration now has to stop our own boat from sinking before we can rescue anyone else.

@peacerespect98 China has already recovered. Right now, the biggest threat to them regarding COVID is from abroad. Therefore it makes sense for them to concentrate on vaccinating the rest of the world.
