While I don't disagree with anything you've said I think it bares pointing out that the Western world, dominated by the United States, has been holding its breath in anticipation of a hoped-for collapse of China since the inception of the People's Republic with no regard whatsoever of the chaos and suffering that would be caused to the Chinese people should that occur. Part of the reason China is as orwellian as it is is because the rest of the world is so passively hostile.

  2. First of all, I'm sorry that people you care about have attacked you. I'm sorry that you and your family are caught up in this conflict and I'm sorry that you are being punished for expressing your point of view. I'm not surprised though. Yours is hardly the first family to be torn asunder by ideological differences during political conflicts. You've chosen to express support for one side and in the process you've confirmed a xenophobic stereotype of Westerners by advocating the rights of individuals to protest over the future of a united Chinese people and the international reputation of their country. I'm not saying you are wrong, but the potential consequences for the position you are taking and that you've telegraphed through your channel in the past should have been easily anticipated. I hope that the situation in Hong Kong stabilizes soon for your sake, for the sake of your family and for the sake of the people of Hong Kong. I hope the repercussions of these events are minimized for those involved and I hope that you and your family can get passed this ugliness, forgive each other, and find common appreciation in the things you can agree on. You have my best wishes through this difficult time.
