  1. Yeah, expecting a young street reporter to know what an opaque government hundreds of miles away is going to do about the situation seems a little unreasonable.

  2. They have "numbers" of unarmed protesters in a single city on the edge of the most populated country in the world with the world's second largest military. What's happening in Hong Kong makes for powerful imagery which the Chinese government is sensitive to. But I'd advise against confusing that with real power.
