  1. Yes, we should be applauding China and Russia for their efforts. The world is going to need all the vaccine it can get. If China and Russia can play a positive role in this battle, it should trump any fear of soft power diplomacy stoked by their detractors. China and Russia have issues and some of those issues are legitimate concerns. But suggesting that they shouldn't be allowed to help out third countries because we don't want them to have a better global reputation is repugnant. And if there is any justice in the world, it should scar our reputation deeply and irreparably should we continue to push that narrative.
