  1. I know what Stalin was; I'm not going to pretend he was a good guy. But Roosevelt and Stalin got along, and I believe they respected each other. Truman was very aggressively anti-Soviet and anticommunist, I think in part because Stalin was contemptuous of him. I sometimes wonder how different the twentieth century might have been, for good or ill, if Roosevelt had lived through his fourth term and set the table for the post-war years.
