@cocochanel6495 When I was in the army about half the GIs were small town white boys (and girls). About thirty percent were black kids, mostly inner city. A good ten percent were Hispanics, many from Puerta Rico, the rest were Chamoros, Samoans and Asians. Unless things have changed, the army is a lot more diverse than you are indicating… and no, they won't ghost over attacking China any more than they ghosted over attacking Afghanistan. They'll obey orders and the consequences will follow.

@cocochanel6495 There are consequences regardless. An army that doesn't follow orders is an armed and undisciplined mob. Professionalism is key not just to mission success, but to the survival of the country. What's most important is that the leaders issuing the orders are doing so responsibly. There is one check on the leadership in the U.S. military. The oath each soldier and officer takes is to defend the Constitution. That's why someone like Trump couldn't order the Army to keep him in power after he lost the election. It's not as helpful though when it comes to inadvisable orders overseas. If it doesn't contradict the U.S. Constitution then the order has to be obeyed.

@neilwalsh3977 It's very important for the leaders of the two most important countries in the world to communicate regularly. It was probably important and necessary for the Chinese to demonstrate that they are not at the U.S. president's beck and call, but now that that point has been made the need to stay diplomatically involved at the highest level should be the running priority.

I think it's the other way around. Blinken is much more of a hawk than Biden.
