  1. A 'joke' was circulating schools around 2008 that the hierarchy of hiring a teacher in South London was 1. Black woman. 2. Black man and white woman 3. White man. People said if you're a white man and any of the other 3 were short listed you may as well go home. Interviews then started to be conducted at completely separate times so you had no idea who you were up against.
