So if Muslims can’t wear their religious clothes at a French school, I am guessing if I was to turn up In a T-Shirt that read “God Is love” or depicted a picture of Jesus Christ or Joan of Arc or if I had on a souvenir T-shirt from Notre Dame or even a Christmas jumper on I would also get told to remove it would I?

Would it be any different if I was a Sikh and I was wearing a “Turban” ( A religious headwear) or jewish and I was to wear a “yarmulkes” would I be allowed to study in your school system? The point is that the law is stupid after all The first records of women wearing head coverings dates back to13th century BC Assyria. Women of nobility began wearing head coverings in order to set themselves apart from women of lower social status. In Christianity, women were guided by the bible to cover their heads to signify spiritual submission to God Most religions were founded many many many centuries ago and your country is still religious bias in your schools in the 21 Century

Everyone is missing the point here, surely it should be about the person getting a good education and not about what their wearing. So if I came to school in a T-shirt that said “God is love” (or those mentioned above) and i was told to leave, i would ask the teacher if he/she was refusing to teach me because of what I am wearing. And when they say “yes” we’ll then I would tell them they are being discrimination against my religious believes And this is exactly what this law is doing

After all I am guessing they teach religious education in French schools? And i would be quite with in my rights as a Muslim (if I was one which I am not) to request refusal to attend the lessons if my religious believes were not taken into account Or do the French have another crappy law that forces me to attend eh!

French laws are stupid anyway After all you have a law that bans alcohol from stadiums unless your a VIP and only VIP’s will be able to drink at 2024 Olympic venues how idiotic is that. Other stupid laws include 1. It’s illegal to eat your lunch at your office desk 2. It is illegal to die unless a cemetery plot has first been bought. 3. An ashtray is considered to be a deadly weapon. 4. It is illegal to take photos of police officers or police vehicles, even if they are just in the background. 5. Criminals can apply for sanctuary in Notre Dame Cathedral and must be “fed and watered” for up to six weeks. 6. Any man carrying onions in Paris must be given right of way in the streets. I could go….

@AwkballOddward you would only hope so? So your not defiantly sure I would get told to take them off?

@public.public religious fashion is not religion ? So me wearing a T-shirt of Christ and being a piece of religious fashion is not religious and therefore is OK
2
@annab9994 so I wouldn’t be able to wear T-shirt that has the word “god is love” on it or one with a picture of Jesus or Joan of Arc on it then?

Tell me what absolute difference does it make if they want to wear them and really what harm does it do eh! Absolutely none it’s just the French being the idiotic French that they are Be a different story if other countries decide to ban the wearing of the French beret eh!

@dreamhunter2973 it’s a stupid law it stops not only Muslims wearing their religious clothing but also Sikh’s and Jews, Christians or even French catholics to wear religious attire and that’s why it’s wrong, we don’t have crappy laws like this in the U.K., but then we are not cheese eating, wine drinking surrender monkeys like the French are. It may only be laws for schools and government buildings but it’s still doesn’t make it right that I myself (if I wanted) can’t wear a HARMLESS T-shirt predicting a picture of Jesus Christ or even with a messages of peace and love n your poxy school. I am so glad I was never educated or worked for the government in France and if you can’t see that this law is taking anyone religious freedom then your a total arse. And I am so glad that the Anglo French/British laws of 1940 in which Churchill and Lebrun wanted to make France and Britain nations one sovereign giving both it’s citizens joint nationality never happened.

@knightowl3577 but I am sure French school have nothing wrong with teaching Religious Education in their school and Christian religion at that so are those of other beliefs allows to skip these classes and if not why not? Also if I was to go in wearing a T-shirt saying “God is love” I guess I would be told to take it off just like I would if i was wearing a cross Personally i just think the French are bias against religion in their schools and it’s wrong to be we should all be free to believe in what ever we like
