Another senior technician is going to try to reach Marques đ

I mean, this has been the notion for the past ~3 years. We rarely see significant jumps anymore.

The only real upgrade is the performance of their A18 chip and the cooling system when it comes to tasks like gaming at the highest settings for games like Genshin. And even then, the vast majority of consumers won't notice those things. Other than that, they've barely done much as usual. People often say to upgrade every 2 or 3 years, but at this point, you have to wait like at least 5 years with all of these phone companies to get substantial improvements.
20
For phones, tablets, and laptops, there are hardly any big "upgrades" anymore, just updates or refreshes. Back in the day, you could see actual upgrades every 2 years depending on the device. Now 3 years can pass, and current flagships could just be updates of 3 year-old flagships instead of upgrades. Maybe it takes 4 years now to see actual upgrades instead of just updates/refreshes lol.

New intro hits like crack

For Apple fans who are defending Apple, how can you defend this? How can you defend such little upgrades and innovations? Don't you want more from Apple? Don't you want them to do better?

The big issue with the Pixel is that the Tensor chip is still years behind the SOC of other flagship devices.

There was nothing wrong with his wallpaper app last video. You guys are just broke and lack listening comprehension.

I want reviewers to do throwback/nostalgia reviews. I think it'd be fun to do a little retrospective for classic, iconic phones.

The placement of the front facing camera on the S10 is ugly imo, but other than that, I agree that the S8 and S9 were the best looking Samsung phones.
4
That front facing camera placement was my only issue with the S10's design. I'm glad they only stuck with that for one year.
3
The GOAT Samsung phone imo. Best prime of any Android phone.
2
I'm from the future. I can confirm that the best phone camera of 2024 is the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
2
The S3 was the first Android phone to give the iPhone a run for its money imo. The amount of features it had relative to its competition was crazy. In a way, the S3 is to Android, what Iron Man 1 was to the MCU lol. The best looking S phone is still the S9 imo. The front facing camera placement on the display of the S10 ruins it for me unfortunately. I'm glad they only stuck with that design for 1 year. The S20 probably was peak S-series honestly. The S20 Ultra was a BEAST! I'd throw some heavy gaming at it without charging for what felt like half a day at times, and the performance and battery were amazing. And that 16 GB of RAM was insane. Literally kept everything open for forever no problem, even my heaviest games. I wish they'd include beastly specs like that again đŽâđ¨ Remembering all of these phones makes me sad that Samsung isn't innovative anymore. They've stagnated with design, hardware, and performance. Some would even argue that they've gone backwards with the S24 Ultra compared to the S23 Ultra (like in heavy performance/stress tests or camera zoom quality). The Oppo Find X7 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra are looking like the new kings of Android flagship cameras already. And I honestly don't know if Samsung will ever regain that crown. Samsung, go back to innovating, man. Go back to throwing beastly specs on the phone. Go back to giving noticeable improvements between your releases. Stop with the gimmicky AI stuff. Stop trying to be the Apple of Android. Go back to what made so many people invested in the Galaxy brand. Stop letting your competitors catch up and surpass you.

One thing that's awful about the Pixel cameras, though, is how they auto rotate your photos sometimes. And you can't turn that "feature" off. It's incredibly annoying and one of the main reasons I plan on switching from my Pixel to something else.
2
I believe it's on sale right now too. And YouTube premium members also get an additional $100+ discount on top of that. Should've received an email about it if you are a YT Premium member. When I went to checkout with both discounts, the base storage 8 Pro came out to something like ~$720 including tax. So definitely a good time to get the 8/8 Pro right now.

What ruins the âsmoothnessâ of Oxygen OS is the delay/lag when switching between apps like say, Chrome and YouTube. For those who have the OP 13 or 12, open up YouTube, then immediately switch to Chrome using multitask then immediately try scrolling up/down. There will be a delay/lag. Very annoying and disappointing. So much for a âsmoothnessâ experience lol.

Honestly, what I'm wondering is - Why don't more smartphones just combine the A17 chip with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip for the ultimate superchip?
2
I'm always a bit wary of the idea of turning your hobby into a job. I love my hobbies, I love the things I do for fun in my pastime. I don't want to look at those things one day and be sick of them. I don't want the things I do to relieve stress to become the source of my stress.

Thereâs Nothing to see here.

@syedumerahmed9514 "Like they made such good phones that, even after 4 years those phone are still going strong and doesnât make the user into thinking of getting a new phone Can android phones do that ?" Yes lol. That has literally been a common complaint for phones these days - that companies are just doing incremental updates instead of major upgrades. That isn't some iPhone exclusive trait lol.
2
iPhone is still better. Android flagships like the HTC Thunderbolt and the Droid RAZR still can't compete with the iPhone.
2
Marques, please do a 2nd review on the Oneplus 12.
2
Bro at this rate, I bet Marques already has the S26 Ultra đ
2
Marques addressed so much controversy this year, I guess we couldnât end the year without 1 more video addressing controversy lol
2
Rabbit R1 company filing for bankruptcy as we speak.

@antonipod I'm mainly thinking of the most demanding tasks like gaming on the highest settings for the most graphically demanding games. But you're right, for like, 93% of other tasks, the Pixel will do perfectly fine.
2
Most durable phone I've ever had. I'm a clumsy guy who's broken a lot of phones throughout the years (Note 3, S8, S9, S20 Ultra), but my S6 has withstood years of my usage and still works today. I had to use it as my main phone again back in 2021 after my S20 Ultra broke. I eventually upgraded to an S22 Ultra a year later, but I still used the S6 as my work phone. Then I retired my S6 earlier this year and replaced it with a Pixel as my work phone.
2
@ZeNashB Nah, there is some innovation outside of the Big 3, but even among those other companies, we don't see substantial yearly and bi-yearly improvements. For example, the trifold phone is cool and bleeding edge right now, but do you think next year's iteration will be substantially different? Do you really think the Trifold 2 Pro Ultra Max is going to be a huge upgrade over the first one to the point where upgrading after only 1 year would be worth it? Highly unlikely.

@Coolbreeze117 What does that have to do with what I said?

Correct

@BillyPhilipRwoth I'm not one of those annoying wannabee "Android sales associates", but I do want to point out that "They wonât switch to a laggy android device" is such 2011 discourse lol. It's 2023, this ain't the era of HTC Thunderbolts and Droid Razrs lmao; Androids can be fantastic phones just like iPhones.
