⁠⁠ @kconnolly9464 since the federal government has gotten involved, education has been far better, this also goes before to DOE even existed.

⁠⁠ @robertkleiman ⁠⁠⁠according to no one, there is no source saying education was second to none. Also since the fed go involved in education enrollments have gone up, more people have gone to college and education explodes. This goes beyond the start of the DOE. The USA education ranks 23rd not 36th. States are already in charge of education the DOE just provides funding and ensures policies as in federal law are being followed. What power did the doe take from parents? Why would this make people hold their states accountable when they seemingly don’t know what their states are even responsible for? This won’t help education as you imply.
