Exactly how much violence did they think happened in the 1950s? This also means they believe that their grandfathers were beating the hell out of their grandmothers. Why not go yell at your grandfather directly then? It's completely bananas that having someone choose to care for the domestic side of the relationship full-time is now considered bad.
