I have the same level of respect for academics as I do for lawyers and politicians. They are all just people and are absolutely prone to all of the nonsense garbage that everybody else is. I'm sick of academics, and they're successful campaign to put themselves up on a pedestal that is absolutely undeserved. They are just regular people.

I grew up as a skateboarder, and you don't get to say you "learned" a trick until you did it multiple times. You had to be able to reproduce it so you'd know it wasn't a fluke. It absolutely blows my mind that the world of academia would love novelty this much, especially considering that even an uneducated dummy like myself is very aware that a gigantic percentage of all published research isn't able to be replicated.

@16m49x3 to me they should embrace the “novelty” of trying to prove everyone who came before them wrong. Come up with a better study that refuse a previous study. That should be the mic drop that gets published. If everybody was out to get everybody else, you’d have to make sure that your study was so robust that nobody could tear it apart lest you get pilloried and embarrassed.
