@blackholeentry3489 nothing impresses my father. He's a really nice guy but he takes everything in stride. When I went to Wyoming in 2017, it was a family affair. My dad drove and he took my mom because he figured she would like to see the eclipse. During totality, he was just spinning in circles looking at the horizon and was blown away. That's just not something that happens. I really wanna see that again and now I'm really sad again that I'm not going there in a week, haha. As I get older and my body breaks down, I need different reasons to go on vacations, and I think chasing eclipses is as good a reason as any to go somewhere. That's awesome you've chosen to do it so many times. I sense you don't regret a thing. Plus, the disappointments make when it does work out so much better.

You absolutely should tell your stories of Tiananmen Square. We never get to hear firsthand accounts from civilians.

@blackholeentry3489 you've seen a bunch of eclipses? I'm so jealous. I photographed one both standard and in infrared in 2017 and I'm going to miss the one in a few days and I'm so upset about it. I can't afford to get away from work. I say having to vote both right and left isn't a bug, it's a feature. There's almost nothing in this world that is a perfect solution on its own.

@blackholeentry3489 I decided that to console myself for not going this year I'm going to save up and go to Iceland for one in 2 years. That landscape with a total eclipse?! Even if it's cloudy the rest of the trip should still be spectacular. TBH ,the real reason I don't go this year is because I confused the dates of the April and Oct eclipses. I thought the total was October and now I can't afford any hotels, and the rentals are all out of what I'd want in Austin, which is where I'd fly to because outside there is the best odds for sunshine in the US.

@blackholeentry3489 That's great you usually get good weather. I had five cameras going on my first one, haha This time I just want to expereince it, hopefully near animals. The funny part about last time is that my infrared camera pics turned out exactly like my regular camera. Was not expecting that. I only had one 600mm lens though so I had to switch camera bodies back and forth onto the same lens on my tripod so I didn't get to experience much first hand. So sad about this year but I'm praying for Iceland. Maybe I should check the regular weather there during that time of year.
