  5. When I hop onto a YouTube channel I’ve never seen, I immediately go to the comment section. If the comments are thoughtful and rational, even in disagreement, then I’m good to go. If it’s a bunch of people frothing at the mouth and insulting everyone and everything, then it’s not worth my time.

It definitely leans a bit conservative but worst case scenario is somebody rolling their eyes and telling you you are a dumb ass. They will make fun of you, and then ask where you wanna go for lunch. How hard you work and how easy you are to get along with matters so much more than anything else to people who do actual real work for a living. In the trades your performance is what matters. There’s no room for bigotry when you get paid by what you actually produce. Your boss doesn’t care what you look like if you outperform everybody else. And if you know your business inside and out then you can start your own company and make good money. It’s a meritocracy.

I would immediately break up with a women who was mean to me before I left on a trip because she wanted to "test" me, consciously or subconsciously it doesn't matter. Beat it, lady. Update: yikes, then she goes on about the gift thing and she sounds like a nightmare!

He’s probably saying that because of what happened to him but he got away with it because he’s so large.   23. You've hit the scary nail on the head. Today's young ones will know no different. It's the only thing they've ever known, unless they have parents that teach them how to think objectively. They've grown up with rules for everything, and that disobeying isn't an option. I went with my nephew to the local public pool and they have a climbing wall over water. I tried to climb next to my nephew and was told I had to stagger over with a full panel between us. Not a covid rule, but a safety rule. I had to stay a good 7' from him. Over water. I questioned the rule since I wasn't ever below the kid, only beside him, just not a full body length away and the kid lifeguard looked at me like "But...but it's a RULE!". Kids are absolutely programmed to know that there's a rule for absolutely everything and they don't need to think. Their teachers, the government, or guards or signage will tell them what to do. Now try telling these kids that they should question the government and media and big tech because they are often dishonest. They look at you like you need a tinfoil hat. This will not end well.

The people who were the most awful before are the very people we need to be the most welcoming and most encouraging to. Nobody flips on a dime. These things take time. Help her chip away at what she's done and bring her into the light. Most people in this comment section or acting exactly like hard-core leftist. They're furious that she isn't 100% on their side already, and others are saying they would never except her no matter what. Well, how does that can I help? Attitudes like that are literally no different than the hard-core woke. We need to encourage anyone to stay on the path of discovery. I am not very far into it but this guy surprises me with the fact he’s this educated and experience because he certainly doesn’t come off like it because most of his answers so far I’ve been very unscientific. KK talked about how people act on alcohol and cocaine towards other people and this guy talked about how Bad incidents are in the minority, but how many people drink and cause problems? It happens every day in every town and every city and it’s so widespread. Because of the sheer volume of people doing it, it absolutely is a problem if only 5% of the people go down a dark path with it.

Isms, post this or that’s, it’s very reminiscent of a kid who is barely a year into their philosophy classes and they suddenly feel grown-up and intellectual even though most of what they do is just quoting other people and referencing this and that author just so you will know how many books they’ve read. I’m really hoping this conversation gets more interesting. Oh man, I had to come back to this comment several days later and I saw that my text to speech did not translate with grammar, that's for sure. Fixed. Also, he does get a bit better. He still doesn't really answer the question about monarchy in a cohesive way. Still, it ended better than I thought it would.

I thought if anybody could actually get him to sit down and really truly talk about the issue in a serious manner it would be on this podcast, but this guy showed he’s absolutely incapable of it. I was a sponsored skateboarder for many years when I was younger and kids would always tell me I'm so lucky because I had brand new everything all the time but then they'd see me walking with a cane after ankle surgeries, and I asked them how lucky they think I am now. I didn't get that stuff for no reason. I destroyed my body for it the kids don't see that part of it.   55.  @sw.7519  I couldn't agree more that it's very common to have young kids, girls especially, flock to me when I'm around their single mother. I actually gave up a friendship because of it. The daughters very quickly made it obvious they were desperate for a "dad" and I did not want that role at all and I didn't want them to get too attached so I stopped talking to the girl (after I found out she lied to two of the girls and told them they had the same dad when they didn't. 4 girls, 4 different dads, but she says to them only 3 dads. My heart breaks for the girls though, and yes they are living on government assistance).

Almost nobody that hates him has actually taken the time to listen to him, long form, unless they have an agenda. People who are easily dismissive of him I know just follow their herd. You can disagree with him on things and that's fine, but to call him a danger or a bad person just makes you someone I don't want to be around. He can annoy you or you might just not really like him in general and fair enough, but if you find him worthy of protest or cancelling, then it says much more about you than it does him.

That's how my brain works so I have a very hard time understanding why other people can't see the merits of things that they generally dislike, or why we get so polarized about things.   74.  @alanw18  it’s not a trap at all. He was openly condemning the response, so KK wanted to know what he would’ve done differently. Imagine a wizard made him Prime Minister that day. What would he have done? but he simply refused to even engage on it. It was hard to listen to. He’s not at all interested in having an intellectual debate. He truly believes that in this issue one side is all good and the other is all evil. You can’t reason with ideologues. That’s the interesting thing about this whole conflict. Both sides are quite reprehensible. If there was an obvious good side and bad side, all the sensible people would be on the same side of the issue but that’s not what’s happened at all. I’ve never seen such a contentious issue across the board. That should tell you something.

That's the problem with this movement. This is extremely common in America at least. Canada too. I’ve seen so many side-by-side images of polar opposite tweets by the same source claiming the exact same thing as either good or bad based on who said it. A good recent examples is when Donald Trump said he wanted to not tax the tips from waiters. People on the left blasted it because it would lose tax revenue for the government, and then when Kamala Harris said the same thing not long after they praised it and proclaimed she was on the side of the working people. It’s absolutely disingenuous and morally bankrupt.

Take a high IQ robotic scientist; they could not do the job a caring nurse does with special needs kids nearly as well as someone with an aptitude for it but considerably lower IQ. We put too much emphasis on strict processing-power IQ even though it's clear that some important functions of society run on a different metric.

Try and find an honest conversation about the environment or Covid or any science for that matter, or about intersectionalism, or basically anything at this point. I don’t really have opinions on anything because I can’t find real information. It’s so frustrating. And here’s the thing everyone forgets: almost everyone has seen a news article about something they know quite a bit about, and those news articles never absolutely nail the facts. They always get some pertinent things wrong, so what makes people think that it’s not like that with every story? I'm in construction and the superintendent is responsible for $100 million jobs. There are tons of rallies the gun nuts have and there have been Antifa people starting violence in America, but the gun nuts thus far have had zero gun incidents at any of these things. Not one.   108. I went to an event in Victoria Canada in 2019 where they shut a bridge down in protest. They absolutely were talking about issues other than the environment which is why they can fuck off. I care deeply about the environment and it drives me nuts that it gets so wrapped up in issues that have nothing to do with the environment like "systemic racism". I'm taking an online class at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and one of my teachers actually said that Covid was a product of climate change. I asked her to elaborate and I filmed her answer and boy was that a word salad. I'd love to find an environmental organization that didn't have a radical political bent.

Before I started doing video work I first spent a few days learning about mics and sound quality etc and was blown away that you can get legit "good enough" sound with a $60 boom mic and cheap or free software. There absolutely is room for criticism about video/audio basic production techniques when the product literally is basic video/audio.

If you tell someone at a cocktail party you are a teacher they think you have a very noble profession. Then he goes off about the claim that half the people in the hospital proves the vaccines work. There’s a lot of truth to that. If 90% of your population is vaccinated but they only comprise 50% of the people in the hospital, that means that the vaccines do something. They are a net benefit. Keep in mind I’ve personally donated to and been to several rallies for the Canadian truckers (I’m Canadian)So it’s not like I’m trying to pump the vaccines, but I am trying to pump objective thinking everywhere and always. It’s not that I think Jimmy is terrible by any stretch, but he does spout off a little bit too sure of himself in areas where he either admits his own ignorance later, or doesn’t give you the whole story. I’m definitely still a sceptic and the two points I just raised have come less than halfway in. Again, I don’t hate the guy by any stretch, but I do think he’s a little bit too bombastic and he lacks a bit of objectivity for me to really trust what he’s saying as gospel.

And the polio vaccine was an actual vaccine, and there was already a track record. The mRNA vaccines are technically gene therapy. They could not possibly have known it was safe because they were brand new, and not enough time had passed to be able to understand possible long-term ramifications. That’s how linear time works. I can go on and on, but my final point would be the lack of uptake for booster shots. Most people realized that unless you were compromised by being fat sick or old, the vaccines weren’t really helpful so they didn’t bother. Polio? Indisputable track record. Very different things.

They talk all the time about how subtle things during the formative years can be incredibly impactful. I would love to sit down with him and have him steelman why someone would’ve thought that Trump would’ve made a good president, beyond just using it as a protest vote to blow the whole system up. You simply can’t champion gaslighting and authoritarianism for getting him out of office, and with talk about how great calm objective reasoning is and also how only literal ballot stuffing would count as election tampering.

  379. I love you lads, but I'm not sure I'm on board with this one. Comedians are not at all obviously playing characters in most instances, and that should be besides the point anyway. You should either have the freedom to say things people don't want to hear, or you shouldn't. Trying to parse it out like it comes down to whether or not the comedian is serious, joking, or playing a character is splitting hairs and almost impossible to ever prove. Plus, I don't think you're gonna win anybody over by insulting them. The mind reader comment was absolutely a direct insult and I don't think it helps further your cause.

  380. Saying "black lives matter" is a protest slogan against an argument nobody is making, and then rioting to justify it. Do you know anybody who actually thinks black lives don't matter? I certainly don't. Of course there are outliers, but they exist on all spectrums so they are a wash. Protesting dickhead police officers, if you truly believe they are "allowed" systemically is perfectly fine, but the MSM has totally white washed (no pun intended) rioters who have completely different agendas.

It's about the recent trend towards this idea that one parent households are as good as two parent households even though there is a mountain of evidence to the contrary in terms of life outcomes. Google any aspect of it you can. It's overwhelming. Single parent kids are less likely to graduate, less likely to go to college, more likely to end up in jail, more likely to live below the poverty line. And it's not by a small margin.

Of course I have an opinion on certain things the sides may do, but not over the umbrella tensions overall. As soon as religion gets involved, it's almost impossible to get an objective understanding, and I am not going to form any concrete opinions until I know more than talking points. What's sad is that there are tons of prominent people who feel that you are an absolutely reprehensible scumbag if you refuse to form an overall opinion based only off the terrorist attack. IDGAF what one group did one time, as far as my overall opinion. If a bunch of child molesters saved grandma's from a burning retirement home, would you get lynched for not praising them as the good guys, full stop?
