Exactly. It's really nice to see discussions where it's not just an echo chamber. I've heard 100 people talking strictly "culture wars, leftists, cancelling bad blah blah blah" and I enjoy new perspectives.

@thanksfernuthin the problem for me oddly enough is that I'm truly open to all perspectives and I'm objective about them. That's how my brain works so I have a very hard time understanding why other people can't see the merits of things that they generally dislike, or why we get so polarized about things. I can't fucking stand Leftists but every single sentence that comes out of their mouth's that has some basis in truth or makes sense I will applaud. My opinion of them as a whole has nothing to do with my opinion of any individual thing that comes out of their mouth.

I'm halfway through and really digging this. Some of my favourite people are ones who have a different perspective than me, but still make me pause and think and reflect.

@thanksfernuthin I'm an oddball because I'm both very emotional and prone to outbursts (I yelled at Google Maps in my car today because it made me cross a bridge I didn't want to cross in rush hour because the instructions were wrong), yet entirely objective so if I'm losing it in an argument and the other person says something I can't refute it's like "Yeah, good point. You're right". It's not at all in my nature to continue to defend my position that was soundly defeated. I'm not aware of many people who are both sides of the coin like I am so it makes it super double extra triple hard for me to relate to people's inherent way of being and I find it frustrating.

Progress for the sake of progress is just "change", which is inherently neither good nor bad.

@christopherkelley1664 You said "changes". I said "change". One is referring to specific events, whereas the other is referring to the concept of change in and of itself. The logic of my statement still stands so it's not at all a copout. The difference between you and I is you were talking from an idea logical standpoint and I am not.
