I had to fact check that Yousaf quote because it seemed so nuts. Turns out it's on friggin video. He really did say that. Good grief. This is like the leaders of Canada's two political parties in power both praising Castro after he died. These are leaders of western nations. Yikes.

@MandM_IMO with Trudeau praising Castro, at least that was a personal relationship. Castro was friends with the family and is possibly Justin's dad. That's one conspiracy theory that wouldn't surprise me if it was correct. The resemblance is absolutely uncanny. For Jagmeet Singh to do it is even more reprehensible.

@weiss1377 "Most of the evil people you can think of in history were smart." Nailed it. People say everyone they disagree with is stupid. It's almost impossible achieve "greatness" if you're stupid. The problem is people confuse IQ with wisdom when the two are barely related. The worst offenders of this are the high IQ. They feel they are the smart ones and they think it so by default it's correct even if it's an entirely emotional argument not based on anything rational. The are smart enough to perform the mental gymnastics required to justify why they are right. They start from the conclusion and work backwards to justify it.

@el33ment you could say that about a lot of people. There are tons of people in power who say things that are completely insane and I simply don't get why anybody gave hithemm the time of day in the first place
