Amen. Everyone says things like "Lots of the trans people I know" in podcasts and interviews. Huh? I know a fuck-ton of people because I've moved a lot and done a lot of different things but I don't know a single trans person, and not one person I know has ever mentioned a trans person in their life. Of course they exist and it's a real thing and all that, but c'mon now, not everybody can have that many trans friends. I know a couple gay people, but none of them are trans.

@rowedtrippa6219 I was unaware that anybody had said otherwise.

Absolutely. If you look at the comments sections on anything that deals with any sort of woke issue, the woke side is much much more likely to go down the path of ad hominem insults, even as responses to respectfully ask questions.

@madi9080 madi9080 I disagree. Using extremes is a great way to get the point across that something is a grey area. Once that's established, you can work your way in towards the middle but very often you'll find that people take a hard line stances on things and refuse to admit any gray areas. That's why you start with the extremes which forces them into a more realistic stances.

42:30. Elliot Page enters chat. She is right that it seems overwhelmingly to be male to female transition but you simply can’t make the claim that it is absolute in the other direction. There are some. What a great debate though. This is what happens when rational people debate challenging ideas. What a wonderful podcast. I’m not finished yet but so far I’m unbelievably impressed. It’s monumentally pathetic that this type of thing is so rare, and that YouTube demonetized this video (at one point, anyway). It’s a sad state of affairs when we are not able to objectively discuss ideas from all angles.

That's awesome. English needs a common term for "human person" in the singular.

@yany3xkkrenii144 Exactly. Dressing in women's clothing does not automatically make you gay nor trans.

I think Fallon Fox should absolutely be able to compete against women in MMA, but it has to be made extremely clear to any of her opponents that she transitioned. If you throw someone who grew up a man into a combat ring with a woman and don’t make that crystal clear beforehand you should be personally liable for any medical consequences, and also subject to a civil suit. And of course the onus originally starts with the athlete herself. She has to inform the association or anyone who sanctions the fights, everybody has to be in the know or else everyone should get sued and the fighter should be brought up on criminal assault charges. This is such a different situation versus sprinting or something else where it’s not one person agreeing to compete against another person. If you enter a regional track meet championship, can you come absolutely should not have to compete against a trans woman.
