@jam99 "I can't think of a physical sport where the best XX invariably beats the best XY. Are there any?" One. Ninja warrior obstacle courses are dominated by women, depending on how they are set up. Women have a better strength to weight ratio. Exercises like where you hold onto a bar and then do a pull up which frees the bar and you have to then hook the bar on a higher set of pegs and so on and so forth, women dominate at things like that. I also want to see men on a balance beam 😜. If the course is set up where height matters, then men win on average no matter what because men are taller on average. If it's set up differently, then women can dominate. Food for thought: are the sports we play an advantage to men because men created them to suit their own skill sets? I would love to see women try to come up with their own sports to see if there are different styles of competition that they might be better at.

On medical forms are usually answer questions a bit silly. I am a dude so when they ask if I may be pregnant, I would write something like "oh man I hope not, I'm Catholic and unmarried". People used to either chuckle or roll their eyes. Now they might have to take me seriously.

Great interview. As for why did birds survive the extinction, I'm guessing it's because they could access a far larger range to find food. They weren't limited to where they can walk. They can scan thousands of miles for any scraps they could possibly come across.

There used to be so many fellow red squirrels in my city that I never really thought about it. Now they are few and far between. I think about it much more these days.

44:00 It's not unscientific to say you believe in free will. It only becomes unscientific when you claim it under the umbrella of science. If you say that we do have free will, for sure, then you're being unscientific

@spracketskooch "The real question is, why is the kgb agent speaking to another Russian in English?" The agent wasn't. @abletobeconfused was reading the subtitles.

@ajdz1840 Hmmm... good question. Men would have an advantage because of better reach and perhaps overall stamina but I bet for short bursts on a course women could kill it. I'm sure there are competitions like this that already have the answer.

Where do you live? I'm Canadian and I'm so thankful I have yet to be asked what I identify as. Medical forms now often have an "other" box, but that's about as far as they take it. I've never had a medical professional ask me my pronouns, or what I identify as her anything. I'm surprised because after all, this is Canada.

This wasn't his first appearance on the show. He was there just a year ago and came back voluntarily.

47:30 Having free will has nothing to do with whether or not a punishment will work. In fact, you might argue the opposite. The purpose of the punishment is to make the person not want to do it again. If they are predetermined by their genes to respond to the punishment in a negative way that makes them not do it again, then the punishment makes sense. If their genes are such that if you didn't punish them, they would not cease to the behavior, then punishment is completely pragmatic and totally fits within the framework of having no free will. (edit: plus, this extends outward. Punishment is also meant as a deterrent to others. A message sent. It absolutely makes sense that one person might be wired to see somebody else get in trouble and be genetically predisposed to not wanting the same to happen to them. Look at it another way: if it made no difference, then you would never see an increase or a reduction in crime based on how criminals are treated. We have seen ample recent evidence that the type of punishment you get absolutely matters. Someone who is hardwired to love their freedom more than their need for stealing or violence will avoid doing the bad thing because they are hardwired to want their freedom)

@OrwellsHousecat by those who seek to gain power from it. It's self evident right in the statement. It's literaly about forcing people to bend to their will. Force = power. They don't try to to persuade. It's never about persuading. It's always about force.
