jj is right. Do not lie. You don't necessarily have to tell the whole truth (that can get you fired etc) but do not lie. Do not tow the party line if it doesn't align with what's in your heart. Do not pretend you agree with things you don't. Be kind, be diplomatic, be empathetic, but be honest. It's unreal how many people I talk to that think what's going on is totally fucked. I make little comments in public all the time and I've never ever had someone push back. Ever, and I'm small and unassuming so it's not like they're afraid of me. Some stay silent, and perhaps they disagree or maybe they're just not talkative, most verbally totally agree and seem happy to have a kindred spirit. Most people are not on board with this shit. Again, be nice to everyone, and you don't need to make waves, but don't lie. It's okay to say you have some reservations about what's going on. If you are in a room full of people and you question things, even a tiny bit, I GUARANTEE there are others who feel the same. That's what we need to embolden people to speak their truth. This goes both ways. If you disagree with some of the things the other side says, that's okay too. Don't lie to either side because that's lying to yourself. Lying is lying to yourself and that'll make you feel worse than being yelled at, I assure you. You can't shower off the gross feeling of when you tell someone what they want to hear, even if you think it's actually harmful.

@ilyaibrahimovic9842 "I need to know why I'm doing it" I can't speak for you, but for me it's because I feel so gross when I fake it and contribute to the thing I hate so much. It's a way worse feeling than not getting the job, or not being accepted. It's corny as shit, but I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I'm not, especially if I believe it's truly harmful. There's something to be said for being at peace with yourself. You know when you aren't and it eats away at you. You need to learn what brings you inner peace and head in that direction come hell or high water because if you're fucked either way, at least you won't hate your reflection.

@ilyaibrahimovic9842 I say just remain humble in your opinions and express them as such. Always be open to the fact that your mind will change if you get better information. Sometimes things come out wrong like you say, and in that case if you are humble about your opinions, hopefully people will see that and calmly explain another perspective. Then counter with how you can see how they'd interpret you like that and you'd like to clarify. That won't please everyone, but some people cannot be pleased, and literally no amount of evidence will ever get them to change their mind so don't even engage. Once you realize you're dealing with an ideologue, just politely end the conversation and walk away. Not worth the effort. Fuck trying to please everyone. Unless it's your asshole boss and you need to keep your job until you find another one and you're actively looking, fuck 'em. Don't waste your time.

@ilyaibrahimovic9842 "honest reasoning is only effective on a minority of people" Thanks for making me sad just before bed, haha. Don't be scared of how you've mislead people. Just being aware of it is a good thing. From trying to get a child to stop crying, to trying to convince your boss you need a raise, we ALL try to manipulate people. The goal is to listen to that gut feeling when it tells you that perhaps you've gone too far, and it sounds like you have that voice so you are a step up on many, many, many people.
