  1. I had to go down a Google rabbit hole because I thought you couldn't possibly have been right about the weight. 3000 pieces made from 6 kg? That means they average 2 g each, and many of them are much larger than that which means many of them are much smaller than that. I was blown away by how little that was. If someone told me they found 3000 artefacts made of an extremely heavy metal, I would guess that I would not be able to lift all of it with one finger. A 7cm cube. A cube of gold where each side is only 7 cm long weighs 6 kg.

  3. in 1492 when Columbus made his voyage, all of London had about 50,000 people. That's not even big enough for a Costco. It would've been nothing in far smaller places for basically everyone to know everyone.

  5. I don't think writing is a requirement for a civilization or else you wouldn't be able to call the Incan empire a civilization. They had complex architecture, art, agriculture, and a system of government. There is no universally agreed on definition of civilization other than the fact that like you point out, they can't be nomadic. They have to be people who amonett dwellings and have different roles and responsibilities. It can't just be a bunch of people who are entirely self-sufficient who happen to live near each other.

  6. Depends where they lived. Where I live in Canada you couldn't possibly even make a dent in the amount of available wood no matter how much smelting you did.
