I am a Mac user, and with every single device I just take the card out and use a card reader and Image Capture and import them like any other file. Couldn't be any easier.

You don't sort your footage into folders? Each session I have just gets sorted into a folder of that particular day. Everything stays nice and separate for me so I've never had that problem. Also, which one restarts the naming convention? My names are very different from Video0001, probably because I use an older GoPro. I find the cameras absolutely incredible and indestructible and so to the people I know who use them, so I'm really surprised to see this much hate coming to them. I don't know about the latest generation though. Mine are from the old style.

I've seen so many articles and videos talking about how GoPro is yesterdays news, but it is absolutely still the most well-known brand and most trusted, despite its flaws.

@artofthefade the water skiing was just used as an example. OP said "doing some action sport where you could drop your device and someone else finds it" means they are worried about someone finding the phone. That's way more likely on land. It's ironic that you missed some thing that incredibly obvious, yet derided the comment as if it was the epitome of stupidity.

A lot of the hate is complete nonsense. You see video after video talking about how GoPro is Yesterdays news, yet if you ask anybody on the street name and action camera, you're almost guaranteed to get the answer GoPro. Maybe they make stupid financial decisions but they are still the industry standard for an action camera, end of story.

Maybe for a Vlogger, but zero people are going skydiving with a smartphone attached their helmet, or mountain biking a crazy trail using their cell phone as their camera. For an action camera, absolutely nobody is using a smartphone.

So you're making fun of people for buying the well-known products, yet you don't offer an alternative.

@greenmoose_ "I aren't your mother." My mom is a green moose, but I guess not greenmoose_. Sorry for the confusion. I should've known because she understands grammar.

@greenmoose_ Yeah, I spent the whole week agonizing over what to reply to you. Rent free for sure. My whole life revolves around online arguments.

What's the best clone? I have some older GoPro's, but I would pick up a clone in a heartbeat if it was 95% is good for 1/3 the price.

@junyaiwase "you literally see them report how they’re nearly hemorrhaging money." Great, but they're still alive and sell tons of cameras and are still the #1 brand in the space. Unless they go bankrupt or become like Skil Saw (who had a product so popular it became the word used to describe every circular saw, but then they faded into irrelevancy even though circular saws are still commonly called Skil Saws) they are still the go-to action camera.

@snoozeflu personal info isn't a concern unless you have your phone unlocked all the time, which nobody who's concerned about their data would do.

Cell phones and action cameras are two completely different products with completely different audiences. There's very little overlap.

@bobz1736 you feel that most of the time when people use a GoPro they could've just as easily use the cell phone? I think you should Google GoPro videos on YouTube. It's extreme mountain bikers and people doing all kinds of crazy stuff that they would never use a cell phone for. I think there's almost no overlap at all. I think you're the exception to the rule.

This video only mentions the initial stock bonanza that pays him out over a number of years. It didn't say anything about his regular compensation. Does the CEO still have an insane salary?
