He was denied with a PhD? There’s something else to the story. Maybe it was something that America specifically said they didn’t need? I got denied once in America as a videographer, but I was told if I made more money or had a college degree in it that I would’ve gotten through. This was around 2000. Also, I have a friend who was Canadian but both parents were American and he got recruited by an American animation studio right out of college and the government rejected his application. It makes my blood boil that people can come in from another country, who need all sorts of assistance, yet people like me and my friend who already had job offers from America got rejected. And neither of us had a criminal record or anything like that.

They are people who have to be vetted first and who have a sponsor in America. The government knows exactly who they are and they get permitted to come. That’s literally the opposite of any illegal immigrant in every way.

@AFAskygoddess That's mental. Maybe it really is time to ditch the ID, cop and accent and go through Me-hi-co.

@MrDj232 It's nuts that Canadians would have to marry for a green card, haha. WTF is that all about? Why is it hard for job-having Canadians to go south into a nation built on immigrants?

@lilblackduc7312 Really? Crazy. I have a friend who is a professional, I have a friend who is a professional skateboarder and living in California and he got an injury and the government kicked him out. They told him he's not professional if he's not competing, which is funny because most pro skateboarders don't compete. They just sell merchandise. Still, while he was hurt, he had to leave the country .

@MrDj232 it's so interesting to me because part of my job in Canada used to involve bringing in foreign workers for construction. It wasn't that difficult of a process. If you how to proper skill, the government would probably let you in.

@MrDj232 As a Canadian, I used to see guys at HD in America and someone had to explain to me what that was.

@besticudcumupwith202 "..so the government ok'd it...that means it's good? This is the exact same government keeping the border open." I don't recall giving my opinion either way.

@lilblackduc7312 And you say those were the "vetted" people who had a sponsor? If so, than that's lame, especially since I tried myself as a Canadian who had a job and I was soundly rejected.

@mattmurphy7030 I once tried to get in to America as a Canadian who got recruited by an American company for a job and got rejected. I promise you I understand full well. Still, if the government allowed them to come in, and had vetted them prior, they are legally there. I'm not sure how that's even up for debate

Not saying I would institute it, but this program doesn’t really bother me. At least the people go through a vetting process and they have a sponsor in America. We know who they are. This is very different than random people coming across the border with no identification. Very different.
