  1. Where do you live? I’m middle-aged and I’ve only ever heard reduce, reuse, recycle. I’ve never heard it any other way. Perhaps I’m out of touch. I’m Canadian.

  2. In many parts of Canada you can’t get plastic bags at the grocery store, except you can. The produce section is a place where you can grab a new plastic bag for every single individual carat you want to buy. But suddenly if you want one more bag to put all those bags in, you are the devil. It seems like absolutely nobody involved on either side of this wants to be pragmatic.

  3.  @mnoovurvi  you are definitely right about the total amount of trash collected, but if you collect them separately, you have to have more vehicles for it. You also need more management and bureaucracy involved.

  4. Is that what got us into a bunch of this mess in the first place? Plastic was marketed as a way to stop deforestation.

  5. What’s the alternative to single use plastics? What container does your prewashed salad come in? Compressed paper? Now we’re complaining about deforestation. Also, the recycling industry has tons of big trucks that use batteries and fuels etc. the recycling plants too. When all is said and done, if 90% gets thrown out anyway, are we doing more harm than good by recycling? How much petroleum is used to collect, sort, and process all of this petroleum? I bet that as of now it’s actually worse to recycle in literally every way.
