I was driving back from a sign-painting installation in one city back to my own, through the country.
It was after midnight and my helper said look at that light over there, and I could see it. I stopped
the van and we got out and watched it go overhead and it kept going, not disappearing below the
horizon but straight out in outer space. We watched until we couldn't see it. It had a shape, like
a rod with an oval at the front end, with two identical but unattached wavy lines in front of the oval,
one on each side. It was a pale, florescent green color. The next day, the Toronto Star had a front
page article about it but used a photo of night clouds with different colors like lightning. A week later
the paper published an apology, saying a wrong photo was used. Please, don't ask me how many
times I wished a had a camera on me, when I used to be down on high tech and computer use.
That was in the early nineties.
