Flag-burnings became a big thing in the Viet Nam war protests, which were made legal as the protests went on. Artists began painting flags that looked burnt or ruined, on the cover of Time, as statements about America. That worked, the public now seeing it as a war for profit. That made Washington remove the military draft. Sometimes burning an American flag leads to good things.
