  1. It's been long-time, but being a narcotic addict recluse has come to define the word eccentric in America. The word eccentric, the source definition, means a certain type of angle for being off-center. Think of "ec" as being like "off", as offset. That's science or mathematics, nothing to do with doing drugs.

I know the original meaning of those letters as a word, but seeing so much use of eccentric as being weird made me search to be sure. Eccentricus was the original Latin word, adapted by English after the Roman Empire conquered them, called Middle English. The ec in Greek, the original word, and centric means off-center. Romans were a slave empire, not having a culture or science of their own, taking things from other countries. Romans had to start raiding other people for food because they were the only people around the Mediterranean to use that water to irrigate their fields, the salt killing their plants. They never conquered what is now called Scotland.
