Woodstock set a new precedent for entertainment in The United States. Music business insiders realized that hippies would sleep in the rain and mud to get into their acid-rock bands and decided to create a new form of public seating called "concert seating". That meant venues did not have to supply seats or chairs. Fans would gather outside and rush the stage to get closer, people being killed. The Who were horrible. Seven young men were killed in the rush at Cobo Hall in Detroit before they played Toronto. Pete Townsend was bragging about how many young boys, his favorite as a heroin addict, were killed trying to get up close. They wouldn't agree to extra security in Toronto. Pete Townsend also went around to music stores during the day, buying Les Pauls and S.G.s and smashing them. The British Invasion isn't understood by music fans. I saw Jimi Hendrix at Maple Leaf Gardens. It changed my life, and everyone I met who was there says that.
