If you're into a retro attitude that agrees with you, I suggest reading "The Ugly American", a New York Times bestseller in the 1960s, that describs the attitudes of foreigners for American tourists after World War Two. At the same time another book was more financial, "How Japan Lost the War But Won the Peace".

Now it's Democrats and Republicans, two parties, not a democracy. Under Trump, American border agents up north would drop off refugees miles from the Canadian border in the winter, so they arrived and had fingers and toes amputated for frostbite. Don't think parties. Visit candidates to look them in the eyes to ask them how they can make your life better, or how you can help them do that.
