  2. The more automotive stuff I see on You Tube the more I wish I had kept my slot car set, building up a big one. I rewound armatures, shaved magnets, mounted and cut Graupner airplane tires to make non-stick grippy slicks. Two high school friends in the neighbourhood had them, and we'd put them together and take turns racing, usually Saturday night. Sometimes, being a track marshal was more intense than racing. For sure, car bodies were reconfigured for the motor beside the rear axle, but the clear plastic body Ford GT Fastback looked better than the actual car. You can imagine the paint finish you see when you are painting behind the shine, using a knife to cut lines, etc.
