Life is different in Scotland, a country that never had any form of slavery or attacked another country in war. University is free for Scot citizens, most having a Masters Degree from a Scottish university. The British pay for it. Life is also different in Canada, even if it's just the border separating us.

@Elmo-the-Ohioan-62 I don't know what you mean by "look at where England is now", but as a Scot I have to say England is in rough shape. As a naval based empire with royalty, the citizens have lived in poverty and addiction for over two hundred years. The British can say the Victorian era, but Scots call it the Opium era.

@Elmo-the-Ohioan-62 The Scot army was regrouping up north while the English King withdrew to the border, gathering his remaining soldiers with off-shore mercenaries, over 50,000 men. They went over the border to attack the first city, now under 5,000 people, mostly women, children and seniors, the men gone to fight. There was a long, angled bridge over a fast, deep river. The Scots cut the bridge on both sides and used pegs to hold it together. When a third of the English army had crossed the pegs were pulled, a third of the English army falling into the river and drowning in their heavy armor. The Scots slaughtered the knights who crossed. That's the battle that made the English king say no Englishman should ever attack Scotland again. English isn't my ancestral language. If I'm reading English history in English I don't trust it, the history of an evil empire. However, it is the prophesied global language.

@bradleyriles3889 You're not talking about ordinary business. You're talking about using lawyers to do business, why the most wealthy person wins out at the end. You know when "hostile take-overs" became an accepted business practice. Now it's elections by judge, hostile politics, even worse.

@Elmo-the-Ohioan-62 The last time England attacked Scotland and lost the English king signed a document saying no Englishman should ever attack Scotland again because God was on their side. More modern English activity against Scotland forced a settlement, the English paying for university in Scotland, free for any Scot citizen.

@colleengeier9994 You are describing the activity of an empire, and there's nothing you or I could do about it. The Province of Ontario had an American becoming the executive head of Ontario Hydro. He began the process of buying an electricity provider in the United States, but an American judge stopped them, saying this sale could become "politicized", and fined Ontario Hydro $124,000,000 for failure to complete the sale. The American didn't contest this decision, saying Ontario rate-payers won't see it on their bills and quit, being hired to run The Tennessee Valley Authority. Compared to the original Roman Empire, Americans don't get free arena sports.
