  1. Tesla is a lot more than a car company, so it's really weird seeing Joe say that. :P Anyway, Optimus Prime is not just a side project simply meant to attract talent. They actually want to put the robot to work in Tesla factories and also sell it to people at some point. And if they manage to stay on track, we might see a working prototype this September 30th.
