  2. You know, politicians can invoke democracy all they want. The truth is that it's not a good idea to expect inexperienced people to make good decisions. Obviously most don't care to change something that works, something that would cause a lot of headaches for a while. And when I say inexperience, it's just that - lack of experience in how much easier the metric system is, and how much easier it is to convert back and forth with this system, by just moving the decimal point and not care about the numbers. The imperial system is harder, and it's easy to make mistakes with it if you're not good at math, or if you're not exactly sure how to do conversions. So while there will be headaches during the transition to the metric system, there will also be people who will be quite surprised how weirdly simpler the sistem is.
