  1. There surely are graduates in Computer Science who do a great job, but there are also - unfortunately - many graduates who are painfully mediocre or terrible at what they do. This is valid within many fields, not just this one. In an ideal world, perhaps only those talented would work in whatever they love to do, and that should probably make all professionals great and trustworthy. We don't live in that world, though. No degree can be safely used as a filter against mediocrity and incompetence. If we pushed aside all non-graduates, these "degree elitists" who want their profession to be purged of those who make them look bad will soon turn to the mediocre and terrible developers who have a degree. And that's when the bell might just ring for these elitists, when reality would slap their faces hard enough to realize there's barely any of them left, and they need help from those who actually are good and talented, despite not having a degree.
