The future only gives you the guarantee that things can't improve unless we try and try again. 20:15 SpaceX does not serve political interests directly, nor do they depend on politics for decision making, but their NASA contracts have been critical to their development. So indirectly the politics helped because NASA introduced the Commercial Resupply Services and then the Commercial Crew Program, along with a collaboration with NASA engineers for various aspects in developing some of their technologies. So politics... does creep into a lot of things, and it's not all bad, even if it's not good enough.
