Comments by "" (@michaelhill8441) on "Pete Buttigieg slammed over promoting electric cars to combat surging gas prices" video.
@noahhyde8769 what's nonsense about buying an electric vehicle. They already have a 5% share of the market and growing.
7
Pete is smart. A Rhodes scholar and marine.
6
That's just the Texas grid. It goes down due to a little snow
5
@jeffreyrivera8158 it's only at like 5% right now but it will steadily grow. It took decades to fully adopt cars over horses. It will take time for this transition too
4
@ksmith3200 that's far too sensible. If these people were around 100 years ago they would be defending horse and buggies and asking " the roads can't handle the horse traffic let alone cars"
4
The mining process for both batteries and oil is dirty. The end users burning gasoline is far worse than electric vehicles. Even if the electricity comes from a coal plant.
4
@turfxpert it definitely helps that's forsure
3
Just the Texas grid. The rest is fine and being upgraded where applicable.
3
How is an electic car ridiculous? I thought musk was a king to you people?
3
That's Texas with the worst hydro grid in the country. Remember what a little bit of snow did to them?
2
@reubensandwich9249 true enough. I let the fact that tesla market share keeps growing tell me that there are many satisfied people who own one
2
@marievogt4705 he didn't say a road was racist. He said where they put the roads was racist. Back when they put the interstate system in they ran them through black neighborhoods when ending at a city to ensure they stayed nice and poor
2
@noahhyde8769 I don't drive alot though. Either way I don't think anyone is saying to abandon vehicles and go to a tesla dealership. Pretty sure they're just trying to nudge people in that direction.
2
@dnnyshdy5189 I don't like how he is using the guise of free speech wrong like the Republicans are. The constitution is an agreement between the government and its citizens. Absolutely nowhere does it say we have to afford those rights to each other. Just like I can say you can't come into my home with your gun. There are no free speech laws on a privately held forumn. I know you don't like it but all social media are owned by private companies.
2
@jamesliberatore3407 I think we can both agree half the country is being lied to. The place we disagree is which half. That's why we need a truth in media and politics law. Why isn't that something you would be interested in? Don't you want the lying to stop?
2
@110clarity that's just not true man. We have never has a year in the last 50 years that we never imported oil. Ever
2
@jjano2320 he can only do so much through executive order. Also, trump had many more than Joe, why didn't you complain about his EO's
2
Was that after he did a tour as a marine? We all know how lazy marines are right.
1
Rickey Bobby that's just lies. My buddy owns one and has had it for four years now and he swears by it.
1
@The_Rob_D I never said I was using statistical data now did I?
1
@seniorita3287 three words. Build better grid
1
@noahhyde8769 you're right. I haven't. Once I'm done with my current car I will though
1
@blazeroranger musk says he is building 1 million mile batteries now
1
@marievogt4705 tesla come with charging stations for your home. Also, bring electricity online is as easy as standing more windmills or installing more solar panels.
1
@dnnyshdy5189 of course it does. Him wearing the uniform only counts if they're a trumper
1
@Scumbagballless I'm not a fan of musk. Not in a while now actually. At first I liked what he was doing (still do actually) its his politics I don't like
1
Jimolee's YT there are tons of electricity storage solutions other than batteries. One is during peak production they tow a loaded train up the hill. When peak production slows they let it back down the hill while spinning a turbine up top. There are many other ways too.
1
@marievogt4705 there are absolutely answers to every question you asked. It would take too long to go over them so why don't you spend a half hour on Google with those questions and inform yourself.
1
@dnnyshdy5189 it does lead one to think an educated person would have a more informed opinion than one that isn't.
1
Jimolee's YT not true
1
@burnedagain6187 this is an emerging technology so ya, there will be issues to deal with. Batteries can be recycled, electricity can be stored in non battery ways. The fuel combustion car took a generation before everyone had one. Same with cell phones and laptops. When they started the exact same debates over mining the materials were said.
1
@geraldboesen5037 no, he was an actor not a marine.
1
@dnnyshdy5189 absolutely they are. The infastructure for cell coverage is massive and has been completely replaced a few times. Let alone all the satellites that have been launched too. Replacing the grid would be similar scope
1
@AnAmericanPatriot1555 which ones are those?
1
@dnnyshdy5189 and what of it? They are scaling up as we speak. The demand is there for better battery tech and they have millions of people working at it as is. Look up diamond batteries for an example of what the future holds
1
@rangerdanger766 nope true
1
@Scumbagballless how can he with a republican fillibuster blocking it? Literally, it is in his plan was to start upgrading the grid
1
@Overkill_JD first off, the snow and cold Texas got is nothing compared to Canada where they run windmills all year long and don't freeze up. Secondly, California is massive and has massive costs. It dwarfs texas and when there is a surge in usage it can be mammoth. They're building more infastructure to keep up with demand.
1
@jimijefferson82 classic Trumper reaction to a debate. Throw names online like a child.
1
MANG PIKE HENCE truth is the last thing they care about. You can see this by their lack of watching the Jan 6 hearings. They don't care about what's true or not, just winning. They use the constitution as a crutch and shield when it suits and then ignore it when it doesn't. It's absolutely juvenile and dangerous to the country
1
@kevinburke1325 tell that to my friend that's had his tesla for four years and still loves it.
1
@dalejames8576 can you give me an example
1
@kurtwinslow9770 they don't really. Depending on sources of electricity anyways. Either way that's not really what we are talking about anyways
1
@dalejames8576 what assumption?
1
@kevinburke1325 the early tesla were like that. Not anymore. That being said, I like the fit and finish on my Chevy better than the tesla. The interior of it seems cheap.
1
@kevinburke1325 I will take the quarter million tesla owners words over his. Just saying. Maybe don't go to a bias source for your info
1
@kevinburke1325 607,000 not 250,00. Either way it's an emerging technology. In 1995 you would have seen similar cell phone usage. The infastructure was built out as the market developed.
1
@kevinburke1325 600,000 own one and no, you don't need to be a millionaire to own one.
1
@kevinburke1325 I googled it so I wasn't saying wrong numbers.
1
@Scumbagballless I never called you my friend.
1
@kevinburke1325 Jesus man, you can get one with a payment the same as a new truck. There are plenty of people that can afford new trucks right?
1
@kevinburke1325 The electric vehicle (EV) market in the United States broke records in 2021, estimated at just under 607,600 light electric vehicle sales. This was approximately 83 percent more than in 2018—the year which marked the beginning of a strong demand for Tesla's Model 3.Apr 22, 2022
1
@Uncle Sam they use rocket grade kerosene, not methane in the falcon 9 rockets. They will use methane for starship
1
@saltylegion6288 that's an odd trasition. Usually car people will stick to cars and not go to a truck. Vice versa, usually truck owners stick with trucks.
1
@debanydoombringer1385 I am pretty sure we are on the same page as who buys trucks and for what reason. What i said was its odd for a car owner to just switch to a ranger.
1
@debanydoombringer1385 I only use the term "you people" towards the trolls that troll fox. It wasn't all inclusive to everyone here. Edit, I looked and didn't see where I said that. I may have and it could have been deleted
