@madezra64 They didn’t know about it yet and she wasn’t charged or sentenced for having a relationship with her dad, she was charged for concealing and covering up a crime. I don’t know why that’s so hard for people to understand. If she hadn’t been abused everyone would be demanding to know why she didn’t get more than 9 years. Being abused does not absolve her of culpability in a crime.

@bretttobin9632 Depends on what part of the state they live in, 32 counties of southeast Ohio are considered appalachian.

@CowboyredPedro They said that they knew the family of some of the OFFICERS in the video, not that they were friends with the victim.

@AdmiralZinji Thank you, while I do think that what happened to her was horrible and I hope that she gets the help she needs for that, it doesn’t change the fact that she lied about and helped cover up a crime. If she hadn’t been abused at all people would be screaming that she should’ve gotten a lot more time than she did.

They didn’t know about it yet at that point. They didn’t find that out until later, you can see in the video when they interviewed her about it that her hair was really short, unlike how it was when she was first arrested and they had her do that.

Obviously the daughter was groomed and SA by her dad for years and is in no way to blame for having a “relationship” with him. She did however lie and help cover up what happened to James, so I think that her sentence was warranted for that, I also think Frank should’ve gotten more time for his knowledge and lies about it too. Hopefully while she’s in prison and when she gets out she’s able to get the therapy she needs to deal with her SA and trauma.

@Keiriks93 I know right? It’s just astonishing to me how many people think she should just get off scott free because she was abused yet if that wasn’t in the equation those same people would be screaming about the broken/crooked justice system and wanting her to get life like her dad. It’s always mind boggling to me how people can’t separate emotions from logic.

@madezra64 Your dissertation on when a victim is not responsible for their actions is irrelevant here because her dad DIDN’T hold anything to her head and DIDN’T threaten her to keep her mouth shut about it nor did she ever try to claim he did. Yes it’s horrible that her dad groomed her but it doesn’t change the fact that she lied about and covered up a murder. If they had just been a regular couple who got high and killed someone so they could continue living in his house and sell all of his possessions for dope money you would be screaming from the rafters for her to get life too. What amount of abuse or trauma makes it ok for people to go commit crimes with no consequences in your eyes , where do you draw the line? R ape, incest, beatings, emotional abuse? Half of the people in prison for murder or assault are there because they suffered trauma in their lives so should they all be let out and their crimes just forgiven because they were a victim of something in their lives?

@bretttobin9632 No problem, I live in Kentucky myself. I don’t live in Eastern Kentucky which is considered our Appalachian region, I live in central Kentucky ( a couple of hours from Cincinnati Ohio) right outside of Lexington so I’m surrounded by horse farms not mountains. I do have friends in eastern Kentucky and have visited Natural Bridge State Park and other places up there many times. Eastern Kentucky is very similar to the Smoky Mountains, I live about 3 hours from there so I’ve visited there many times too. I love visiting but I don’t think I could live in the mountains, I much prefer living right in the middle of Kentucky where everything is just a short car trip away.

@MelDamgaard Well her being SA by her dad and the fact that she’s an addict does explain why she was having seggs with a much older man actually but that’s not what she was sentenced to prison for, she was sentenced because she lied about and helped cover up a crime and I think people are losing sight of that in their rush to feel sorry for her because of what happened to her. I do feel bad that she was abused but that doesn’t absolve her from guilt of a crime. As I said to someone else, if she hadn’t been abused people would be talking about how broken our system is because she only got 9 years instead of 20

@MelDamgaard Yeah, I didn’t mean that I thought you believed she was unfairly sentenced or anything, I just mentioned it because of all of the other people saying she didn’t deserve to be sentenced at all because of the SA, I guess I just worded it wrong.

@Astrohhh That’s incorrect, they don’t smell flesh at all, they smell the chemicals that the body produces during decomp.
