  16. "Probation" doesn't mean "You're free to break more laws until your court date". It means you walk on eggshells and are hyperaware of your surroundings and situations to prepare a defense. No police contact is a stipulation. You don't sit in a parking lot drinking beer when you're on probation, either. Driving into the drink was the smartest thing he did.

Some of my friends grew up thinking roaches and cigarette smoking in the house was acceptable and regular. What I'm saying here is that maybe in that house, shoplifting is as normal as clipping coupons is to the lady next door. Our generation has disposable relationships as a normalized behavior/lifestyle. Don't like this friend? Find another one. But when you drag the children through your criminal lifestyle? They think that's rational, normal behavior.
