When you put sanctions on a guy that uses his own relatives as dog food, nobody dare run against them. That's why they're not working. People trying to escape through a minefield are shot dead. One less opposition voter.

Iran(Tehran) pre-ayotollah was just like America. Denim jeans, a booming economy, prosperity. The new regime has made clerics and the regime supporters very rich, and the middle class is now the poorest of the poor. If you want to be fed, you have to join the government. We all know what the government wants... That's why we put sanctions on them. Some governments are getting oil at bargain basement prices. They're undermining them, and giving deals to other countries we also put sanctions on. It would be like if you grounded your 8 year old, and the 10 year old is sneaking them cookies and junk.
