Um. Perhaps the fact that we cant just drive to an island might be the difference in response time. Plus, we didnt have a bunch of commies stalling for better pay and people stealing the copper wires for scrap as soon as they were put up. That could play a role...

Um. Puerto ricans cant vote for federal elections.

@no-orwelliandystopia Then you're not Puerto Ricans, you're Americans. Pick one, already...

@faerefolke I fucking did, sugarplum. They posed a question. "What was the difference?". I tried to answer it as nicely as I could. I even left myself some wiggle room by using the word "perhaps". I dont know. Maybe a storm that just battered an island or ten with sustained winds of 120+ MPH moving at a break neck speed of 40 MPH over an ocean 1000 miles away made the Navy and Airplane pilots a little nervous. Could it be that while the mainland was also bracing for an impact from the same storm and still recovering from a hurricane in Texas a week before along with taking time to assess the damages to the pummelled U.S. Virgin Islands a day BEFORE Maria hit PR? There was alot of shit going on at once. You would think PR was the only island in the Caribbean if you ask a Puerto Rican. In closing, cupcake, I understand dropping the "f-bomb" tells everyone how passionate and virtuous you are. It doesnt mean that your word is law. Fucking got it?

@faerefolke Yeah, and? The question is what was the difference between the two storms. The simple answer is logistics. It takes a few days to gather the materials coming from as far away as California, put them on a boat or several boats and planes, wait the storm out then send them out. It's not like we have boats loaded up in some dry dock somewhere or have them floating out in the ocean waiting for a storm. That would be like putting an ambulance in front of your house in case someday you had a heart attack. Not to mention as people were loading up these ships and preparations were made to accommodate volunteers and personnel, the president was being cussed out for not attending the Paris Climate Summit. It was a big waste of precious time. Here the man has a job to do, and we got people like Cuomo and Maddow shoving a camera in his face asking stupid irrelevant questions about Russia. Now we have a Puerto Rican chef(and humanitarian according to the scroll) saying he personally served 3 million meals. Yeah, I'm thinking he was working pretty hard running around like chef Ramsey calling people idiots. Look, I'm a reasonable, rationable guy. I try to weigh in all the variables and scenarios. Summing it all up as "the president is racist, so people died" isnt something people should accept or tolerate from our "media". If this had been Obama? The same people would say he did nagnificantly under the circumstances.

For the Americans that were formerly Puerto Ricans? Welcome to America if you came here legally and can vote in our federal elections. Vote your consciences. Feel free to move about the country, and move in next door to me. Bring your goat if you have one.

Lol. Puerto ricans left Puerto Rico because of failed incomes and policies. Same thing with Mexico and other former Spanish colonies. Some risked their lives to get here for a better life. You think PRs are so stupid that you need to tell them how to vote? You're infantalizing them, and its insulting.
