The Troubles in NI were based on Civil Rights at first then morphed into Nationalism and then descended into just straight criminality which the Paramilitaries still practice. The British Army were intially Peace Keepers but that never worked and the Nationalist cause overtook the Civil Rights cause and the Britsih Army morphed into the "enemy" . Then a very strange thing happened, the WOMEN rebelled after an incident where a Mother and Child were killed by an IRA squad coming off the road in a car chase. These "PEACE WOMEN" were just two Aunties to the infant but from that movement the warring parties STOPPED !! The PEACE WOMEN were invited to the Whitehouse on Saint Paddies Day instead of the Terrorist and when 9/11 happened the IRA were binned along with the screaming jihadists Many Irish women from both communities joined up. It was open to men as well, so I joined.
