  1. Yeah....we don't have just 31 brigades. That's a mischaracterization from people simply googling the answer. We have 31 brigade combat teams, not the sum total of our 10 Divisions or those categorized as our 61 Regiments, which are the same size as a Brigade. Nor does that cover the 37 National Guard brigades, or the Reserve that come in all sorts of echelon sizes.

  2. Edit: And before someone pops off with 'Well those 31 brigades are combat forces', so are most of the rest. Because BCT's are combined arms packages, but Infantry & Cavalry Regiments (like the 75th Ranger Reg.), Attack Aviation, Divisional Artillery, the 5 special forces groups which = 1 whole Division, and more etc, are most certainly combatant units as well.
