Macross Plus came out, and my Jarhead uncle sent me a bootleg VHS copy from Japan. What can I say? Pre-2000's anime was better.

Considering what a vacation I considered a year under lockdown just chillin' 24/7, I think I would probably find death row better than general pop and a celly who I'd probably want to kill after a month anyways. The anti-social introvert in me really blossomed during COVID. It just needed an alibi.

We're IN the second Victorian era

A Gentleman's club with a custom vibrator.... Told you Twain and Tesla were classy AF

Life of Christopher Lee: Metal AF Life of Teddy Roosevelt: Gangster AF Bully.

The road to mediocrity? I know that one. Walked it myself. It wasn't great. Wasn't bad either.

Killingsworth still trying to keep it dirty. Because it's an industrial/trucking services area, it will win it's NoPo war against ever cleaning up. But damned if you can afford to live on the streets our parents used to tell us to stay away from these days. Most of you couldn't afford to live on SE Division, N Mississippi, or much of the inner East Side today. It's the Portlandia turf. And Rockwood still puts most of 80's/90's east LA to shame. The King of sketchy hoods you never heard about.

@majaturner9066 When you make it a career, it's called marriage. So you're wrong there

When you point out Carol Baskin as the crazy one, and leave Joe and his murder conspiracy out, then yeah, Weird History is going to have to cover itself at some point

My anaconda don't want none unless you got whalebone petticoats, hon

Sad that no one mentioned Chester A. Arthur, Werewolf Hunter.

And Suzuki Samurai rolled! Not a bug, it's a feature

My Battalion (2/162 Infantry) was quartered in the Iraqi Olympic Training complex during OIF II in '04. Across from Saddam's prize basketball gymnasium in central Baghdad. That's no joke about the torture implements. The room that became my hooch had a bare bedframe with a car battery charger wired up to it, and there were bullet holes and blood stains along the walls in the rooms, and eye hooks bolted in. For chaining people up.

If I had to endure going to freakin' Mass twice a week, I would try and cut a deal with the devil myself

Judgment and a self-important sense of Propriety. That's what they ate. And those times have come again. Welcome to the 2nd Victorian era, in all it's gatekeeping glory

Saw Chrese in her shop (3 monkeys) when the store was still open in the nob hill area of downtown. She looks born to play the part. Tank girl, I mean. Not Stalin. It's her everyday look. She's more Portlandia than Portlandia.

If anyone could be called a subject matter expert on whether or not an island was escapable, it would be Napoleon.

One of the worst proverbs we have is "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." False. An eye for an eye teaches the world to stop poking other's eyes out. Reaping what you sew is the oldest, most fundamental tenet of justice. Not flowery talk about turning the other cheek. There's a fine line between taking the high road, which you do for YOUR OWN FEELINGS, and being an enabler. Everyone pretends to be above that until they or their loved ones become a victim, when sh*t gets real. An overdeveloped sense of forgiveness comes more often from a position of ignorance, not experience.

Don't give the last president any ideas, please We don't need them pushing Choked Capitol Riot Chickens on today's kids

Because it's an American produced show made for Americans. Do you go on Italian videos and bitch about why everything is mostly about Italy?
4
It's still a long standing legend since the 70's that the big auto makers had many people bumped off for snitching on design flaws, and politicians handsomely bribed to obstruct imports. It's still a popular plot for movies and books to this day, but real world examples rarely get summarized. Strange, that.

@carlcushmanhybels8159 soooo...watch the entire video before deciding to throw out repetitive exposition? If you're not going to watch the video, don't comment on the video.

3rd Grader #1: Have you seen the new kid? 3rd Grader #2: Yeah. That's Little Timmy. Just transferred out of the joint.

Hell, half the boomers did too. The other half died in the attempt.

1. Year I became a parent 2. My unit kept getting alerted because some guy named Saddam kept making threats about WMD's he didn't actually have But we'll talk more about that in 2003

I imagine they also put up a surprising resistance to the mind probe.

We had a couple of the armored GSA Suburbans in Iraq on JBB, too. Heavyweight monsters with an 8.1 liter engine, and felt like driving a battleship. Had to scavenge them from the scrap yard and our Battalion Maintenance section had to get them functional again with some serious jury rigging (like retro-machining the hubs for Uparmored M1114 Rims) but they served as on-post transport well enough. Not quite as protected as an armored Hummer, but close. The Beast here seems to be about on par with an MRAP. From the run flats to air filtration and chassis/window armor, pretty close.

I partially believe in it because of the complete inability to balance the scale of willfully taking anothers life, often SEVERAL of them to land you in Death Row....but it's the threat they represent by still breathing that gets me. Their continued existence is more potential murder waiting to happen, and it has. As evidenced just this week when a murderer busted out of a prison bus then slaughtered a couple and their 3 kids.

It was actually part of Qin's Make Dynasty Great Again economic plan After the bottom fell out of the pottery market in the Qi Xan Wong Clay Futures Crash in '08 (I think we all remember THAT one), this provided much needed economic relief for mud slingers all over the provinces during a time of crisis, and Lo Pan was deposed and cursed with No Flesh until he found a girl with green eyes.

@cindysue5474 If you had two brain cells in your head to rub together, you might have noticed they're not exactly breeding age...maybe it's best if you don't spawn anything either

I remember a bunch of people who bailed on the USA because they were afraid of losing their slaves got their asses handed to them after the Mexican government they defected to said they were gonna lose their slaves, and staged a coup. And, right on cue, the USA came to the rescue for those who didn't get steamrolled\ Texas: the continuing legacy of Treason after Treason

@SuperiRix4 You, and everyone of you who keep playing this "who was worse" game are simply comparing Mega Ted Bundy to Ultra Jeffry Dahmer. There's no point. But you COULD be spending your time pointing out what De Gaulle did after 'liberating' his country (i.e. taking advantage of a golden opportunity) from occupation paid for with the blood of thousands of non-french soldiers just so he could strut into Paris, claim the credit, and then DEMAND THE US/NATO HELP FRANCE CONTINUE TO OCCUPY OTHER COUNTRIES under threat of buddying up to the USSR if we didn't. How's that for gratitude and hypocricy. We were slowly moving out of the Phillippines by 1942, US colonial follies were already out of fashion by then. You wanna know how America got stuck in the Vietnam war? De Gualle and the British admiralty. That's how. Maybe talk about that.

It has been largely chalked up to urban myth that an entire batallion of Japanese troops trapped in the swamp were wiped out but for 20 survivors by saltwater crocs. Simply put, despite the lizards being enormous, there was nothing like a population of them large enough to massacre 1000 armed men. Enough to harry dozens of troops, acknowledged, but not feasible to support the tale. And it was noted that the sick & wounded among the Japanese were left behind to die on the trip across the marshlands to join up with a brigade elsewhere on the island. Easy pickings.

We were partying like it was. Because Prince told us to.

Staph. Staph from a simple scratch in that filthy environment would scare me the most.

The two companies spent the rest of existence staring at each other in eternal rivalry...directly across from each other in town. They died hating each other.

Dope is, and remains, a broad euphemism for any narcotic, with few exceptions but mostly for downers, not uppers. Opiates & heroin, prescription barbiturates, etc. You almost never hear it applied to cocaine, qat, crack or meth. Edit: And psychotropics. No one refers to their psilocybin (mushrooms) or LSD stash as dope, either. Not even cops.

Egyptian kids just ate whatever their Mummy prepared

lol, whatever, he was Donald Trump with a rank.

After watching Paula White, Trump's spiritual advisor, doing her song and dance....'ol Rasputin strikes me as sorta tame.

GG Allin's friends partied with his corpse, taking polaroids with it before calling the ambulance once they realized he was dead of a heroin OD. At the funeral party they dressed his 5-day old, blackened & bloated unpreserved body in a jock strap and leather jacket, burying him ass up with a bottle of Jim Beam.

I could find reasonable accomodation for 3-5 years of appeals, in today's world. Maybe not in 1950 when forensics was stone aged. But to linger on for two decades? That's two decades where a predator could either game the system or break out, and do it all again. I take issue with execution methods, however. It's a circus of stupidity. A straight gunshot to the noodle is neither cruel nor unusual. It's actually quite common and quick. And a favored method of murderers themselves.
