We're dealing with this in Oregon about Water too. It's a hostage situation. There is an ever increasing minimum charge for 'stormwater' runoff, despite not a single cost having risen after they ALREADY did a huge, expensive outflow project we had to pay for years ago. Now, no matter how small your property, rain costs you at least $80 minimum, not $30 like 2014. The richies with the most land pay so, so much less per yard for rainwater outflow than the poors. And we're still not allowed to keep any of that rainwater we pay for except with a very difficult to get permit.

Meanwhile LiFePO is actually here. All credit to the 3 wise men who created Li-Ion and changed the world the last few decades, but the new Iron flavor will be the staple going into all our doohickies for the next decade

I would go Induction, especially where wiring/plumbing space is at a premium, but my biggest need is just the shortage of line-cook style Griddle Top surfaces (the perfect Omelette isn't made in a pan) instead of the all-burner circles. These are just now starting to make their way into residential cooktop designs. For now, I'm sticking with resistive element burners under a heavyweight stainless griddle plate.

Honestly, they just need to adopt hot-swappable standarized sizes instead of building the vehicles on top of fixed power packs. Then 'fill up' time stops being the issue, and maintenance of everyday Size A (Automotive) cells gets passed off to the industry and not the individual, like Propane BBQ cylinder swaps, and Truck Stops suddenly think jumbo EV pack swaps are the greatest thing since Burritos

The legal argument that needs to find its way into court is that a utility company (and it's pet government flunkies at City Hall) has no legal/constitutional standing to interfere with a property owner's own power and water generation as a 14th amendment matter about equal protection under the laws. Because Utility companies are exercising legal influence to halt individuals that they shouldn't have.

@4literv6 You're gonna need more than youtube video anecdotes and supposition to back that up.

The entire Architectural sector in America needs to go back to the drawing board and have new home construction standards build around integrated Solar primary and secondary Wind generation, with banks taking the place of Ye Olde Water Heater in the garage or utility closet. The only thing that is expensive now is betting your family's lives entirely on Grid power.

The marketing hook that nobody employed properly is even more relevant today: Everyone wants to flip their home for a profit. They waste absurd amounts of Home Depot cash on kitchen and bath remodels, etc. when sellers should be catering to home buyers LOOKING for Solar pre-installed. Buyers don't want the hassle of a retro-fit afterwards. You wanna invest in home value...do the Solar install.

@d7home2129 Ah yes, the timeless "I'm off the Grid, bro" American anarchist's fantasy. That somehow no one will ever come knocking if you can just get far enough out into the woods, and you'll never pay taxes again! Nobody here in the bushes but us chickens, amirite??

And new construction companies. The ones building skinny homes for nothing but charging big. Big corporate tract housing builders will cut any corner yet raise every price of new homes, which means they are also actively avoiding integrating solar into new home construction except for 'halo' upscale projects. They slash everything, right down to the minimum size of property.

Healing an open wound doesn't mean you skip the stitches after cleaning the dead tissue Obviously, we need to reduce AND apply capture methods, both biological and mechanical You don't protest Big Tire because you got a flat by just driving around with a flat until it comes off the rim. You plug it and put some damn air back in The "Protest Everything" crowd need to stop shooting everyone else in the foot just so they can get their tweet on

Between increasing numbers of brutal weather events knocking out power grids and leaving people blacked out for days at a time, skyrocketing wattage costs, home shoppers are actively hunting for homes with solar already installed as a major deal maker, not a remodel doohickey or "Oh gee, thats nice" item. It's in demand, and those homes fly off the RMLS listings faster than anything else not because of social consciousness, but security and savings.

The simple, ludicrous argument that you are now and always should be, by law, forced to pay a ransom to Electric and Water private-profit utilities. I believe that's normally called extortion.

Consider what it did to the value of your home. Money far better spent than on most remodel investments to up the market value. People keep forgetting how desirable it is to potential home hunters to already have solar installed before they bid on your home when you put it on the market.
