  5. 31 M1's is NOT a small force. It's the Tank half of a Cavalry Battalion. Add the APCs or other tanks, and you have a full Battalion Task Force. They may not look like much in the motor pool, but once they're on line and rolling, it's quite plainly a STRATEGIC level eschelon, not a Tactical one. Large enough to change a major front or start an end-war penetration.

Just defending their turf means being a punching bag. The Ukrainians themselves need a Doolittle's Raid moment. A symbolic counter-strike on a military asset. A commando strike on a target inside the RUSSIAN border. A fuel point, assembly area, anything to get the Russians to backpedal.

  11. Germany has every right to be protective of their military technology, even older stuff is OPSEC. Gear given to Ukraine isn't just possibly going to end up in Russian hands. an example is GOING to, sooner or later. From radios and crypto, sensors, to special armor and engines. Anything from captured functional or wrecked hardware will be gone over with a fine tooth comb by the Russian Arms Industry. It's a risk, always.

Honestly, if we really did have swarms of killer Boston Robotics dogs, I would say send ten thousand of those out to swarm the Russian positions in the night, then let the troops reclaim the territory that Russians would surely flee from, night after night, until every inch of Ukraine was purified of Russian infection. And then the Crimean bridge obliterated and a Maginot line established in Ukraine.

If there's one thing I learned about having embedded reporters overseas, it was that they will never, ever stop trying to put you at risk to score some ink. They smile, act like your buddy, and then cut your throat if you let them by spilling your entire mission itinerary, location, & gameplan.

  17.  @manticore4952  There is truth to that. But no matter what, there's no invincible super weapon. It's victory by degrees. There were always going to be M1 losses. I was a Bradley platoon sergeant, of COURSE we were going to see plenty of those destroyed too. Nothing won't take losses, but if they use them massed for capitalizing a break through, a force that large can and will turn the tide. We do thunder runs for a reason.

They were used specifically by the Arab alliances to do the same thing to Israel that Vlad is doing to Ukraine. They lost it in battle fair and square. The only reason Arabs want Palestinian land back is because it's prime real estate for another try.

  34. Depends on where you get your Green power. All from a grid, or mostly from your own source. Take one look at your roof, particularly the south facing portion. Got panels or a bank in your utility closet? No? Of course not. Renewable or not, the wealthy stay that wealthy making sure you don't cut your bill to them by even half. Otherwise we would have radically altered our new construction standard to mitigate grid vulnerability and consumption. If you cut your grid based consumption by just 40%, that's a complete catastrophe to wealthy energy moguls. And you would not be nearly as vulnerable to an attack on your grid. Generating acceptable levels home energy can survive disaster, economics, and hostile acts where grids cannot. Any risk to dependency on the energy-sector rich makes them very nervous. Start with powering at least half of your own home, then business & vehicle fleet from your own roof.

The weaker Russia looks, the more China thinks about pulling a Lu Bu and stabbing Russia in the back. China has 9x the people, Russia has 3x the resource-rich land. That's China's kind of math.
