  2. I feel like there IS a legislative answer here, and it's in e-Wastes. Firms which sell brickable products are leaving the customer not just with a paperweight, but hazmat and eWaste. Holding companies with no e-cycle/buyback program responsible for consumers being stuck with the bill (or dangerous wastes like UN 3840 lithium batteries), after that company (through direct action on their part) turned it into a waste (becoming the culpable party and generator of the waste) would be an easy legislative addendum to sneak under the wire & add to the 40 Code of Federal Regulation, which gets updated annually. That's the regulation behind the creation of the EPA and it's enforceable laws, which states must either meet or exceed.

Homeboys entire stance, like a broken record, is that an OEM continues to own the thing you thought you owned after paying for it because it might have a Wonka ticket inside or something, and you can't have that.   8.  @thefalseshepherd3689  No, that's just cynicism and dogma speaking, and doesn't take into account the ying and yang of regulation vs market. If the 'cost ends up passed on' onerously, the product won't sell. And they never sell an unprofitable product, especially not in the 2023 fake inflation market posting record earnings. The point is to get them to stop selling crap with a killswitch installed, to force a return to value purchases of durable goods rather than loot box and premium skin season pass economics.
