  2. Most of the SU-25's design was taken from the Warthog's competitor, the Northrup YA-9. The YA-10 (A-10) and the YA-9 competed for the US Air Force contract in 1973. Both were outstanding, but the Hog was just a wee bit better in the eyes of the US Air Force. The Soviets produced the Frogfoot half a decade later, with blatantly obvious YA-9 elements copied straight from the Northrup drawing board.
